If I had one day left on Earth I would totally go to the movies. To me there is just nothing like being transported into another world for a couple of hours. The story, the actors, the costumes- I love all of it. So you can imagine that when I was contacted recently by CBS Films, the studio behind the new film, What If, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan, about doing a style post, I jumped at the opportunity.
I was already intrigued by the film, which takes a less expected, more honest approach to the romantic comedy genre. I am a pretty big Adam Driver fan and I was also curious to see a sans-wand Daniel Radcliffe as the romantic lead. After reading the reviews in Vulture and Rolling Stone, two publications I thought would find a slew of nerd love cliches to dissect, I was pleasantly surprised that they found it to be a thoughtful and "irresistible" modern take on the rom-com. That's sweet music to my ears!
So in case you still don't really know what I'm talking about, here's a little preview...
What If is the story of medical school dropout Wallace (Daniel Radcliffe), who’s been repeatedly burned by bad relationships. So while everyone around him, including his roommate Allan (Adam Driver), seems to be finding the perfect partner (Mackenzie Davis), Wallace decides to put his love life on hold. It is then that he meets Chantry (Zoe Kazan), an animator who lives with her longtime boyfriend Ben (Rafe Spall). Wallace and Chantry form an instant connection, striking up a close friendship. Still, there is no denying the chemistry between them, leading the pair to wonder, what if the love of your life is actually your best friend?
Looks good doesn't it?! Critics are raving over Zoe Kazan as Chantry and like the quirky, peter-pan-collared Zooey before her, I think her style will be copied among many. The fun prints, modest shapes, and subtle feminine charm are the perfect notes to take you into fall. Here's my take on a few of her looks...
But you haven't even heard the best part yet! Not only will I be catching What If for its Columbus opening this weekend, but CBS Films wants some lucky readers to see it as well... for FREE!
