In the Mood for...The Royal Treatment

Sometimes writing a blog is like writing in a diary in which I feel compelled to air some of my most shameful secrets. And I guess this one isn't really something to be truly ashamed about. Maybe it's because I should have retired from watching the CW years ago. Or maybe it's because the last episode was all about her first kiss. But regardless of the fact that it is definitely age-inappropriate, I am currently obsessed with Reign, the CW's new show about Mary Queen of Scots. In my defense, I could point to the fact that I am a costume designer and the wardrobe in this show is to die for, but really, it's more than that. It's also conveniently filling that Tudors-sized hole in my heart that other shows just don't quite fill. Oh, and did I mention that the main character, played by Adelaide Kane, is one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen. I swear, it's like she's some sort of magical beauty sorcerer, and the more you look at her, the more beautiful she becomes. Anyway, now that I've majorly geeked out on a public forum, at least you can see what I'm talking about...

And further fueling my current royal obsession is Dolce & Gabbana's fabulously regal fall collection, which was inspired by the golden mosaics of Sicily's Cathedral of Monreale...

Never in all my years have I coveted anything to do with Renaissance style, but lately I can't help craving the opulence. The fashion fates want it this way and I am complying. So to feed my need for royal style, I've compiled some of my favorite finds for the Queen B in all of us...

And how about you guys? Is anyone else a closeted Reign fan?
