I have to admit I have never been much of a fan of summer clothing. I mean, it's just never been able to hold a candle to the high-fashion, high-interest layers of fall, the glitz and glamour of the holidays, or the soft romance of spring. And for someone who loves clothes, a season where the clothes-to-skin ratio plummets is just so much less fun. So, needless to say, as I'm sweating out the rest of the summer, I couldn't be more excited for fall fashion. And until that fateful fall day comes, I'm just going to bask in my new favorite fall trend: Urban Edge.photo credit: style.com
This look, as seen on the Fall 2013 rtw runways from Timo Weiland, L.A.M.B., and Christopher Kane (above), showcases the grittiness of New York City, drawing inspiration from the city's graffitied streets and bustling energy. The look is tough, loud, and just generally badass, anchored by the sleek, slightly-refined, and always cool attitude that can only come from one the of the biggest, if not the biggest, fashion capitol in the world.
My Urban Edge inspiration board:
All about the look...
The style: tough, edgy, gritty, a sleeker, more utilitarian spin on 90s fashion.
The prints: camouflage, graffiti, abstract art.
The fabrics: leather, leather, more leather....oh, and distressed denim.
The color palette: black & white, blood red, indigo blue, and acid yellow, grounded with army neutrals and gray.
The accessories: moto ankle boots, cuff bracelets, bad-girl jackets, acid-color manicure.
So I hope you're feeling this as much as I am! I've got a lot of exciting things planned this week, all revolving around the Urban Edge look, so come back and check it out!
