Why am I still talking about holiday shopping when Christmas Eve is in a mere 3 days? Well, because if you're anything like me, you still have a whole lot of shopping/wrapping/etc. to do in the next 3 days! Yikes! Last-minute shopping is generally considered a little ill-advised, but you know what? I kind of love it. Being on a time crunch forces you to pry yourself from your Amazon shopping cart and actually go out and interact with real living humans at brick-and-mortar stores. And while you're trekking through December weather as it is, I say why not skip the mall traffic and angry Wal-Mart mobs, and put your money back into your community by shopping locally! It's a win-win all around: you'll find great prices, friendly staff, short lines, and, for those hard-to-buy-for people on your list, nothing is better than a one-of-a-kind find from an area boutique! Not to mention that you can feel good knowing that your purchases help local business owners and artisans! See? I totally procrastinated for the good of community...
So I hope you've seen some of "The 12 Days of Gift Guides!" by now, but if you're shopping this weekend, they won't do you a whole lot of good. What will, however, is this compilation of my favorite Central Ohio shops that happily coincides with the gift guides so you can find the perfect last-minute gifts this weekend to please all personalities on your list! Let's shop!...
There are so many fashion-forward boutiques in Columbus, but a few of my favorites are Rowe Boutique, the fashion mecca of Columbus, Thread, which was recently named a "Boutique You Need to Know- Now!" by Refinery29, Ladybird, for unique and lovely designer finds, and, of course, Milk Bar Boutique, for the fashion-forward fellas.
Pick up some bohemian vintage finds at Flower Child in the Short North and Rag-O-Rama in Clintonville. And, for an added treat, pick up the Whole Lotta 'Nola Granola Sampler and other treats at Pattycake Bakery, which is all vegan, all the time.
Find a large assortment of tech cases and nerd-approved tees at Skreened. And then pop over to Grid Furnishings for some sleek and ultra-modern furniture and home accessories to complete the Techie's futuristic stylings.
Give your host/hostess with the most/mostess the ultimate entertaining gift set with baking and party planning supplies from Smidge & Pinch, gourmet oils from Green Olive Company, and a few bottles of wine from Camelot Cellars.
Treat them by giving a gift for the ones they love most- their pets! Get them styled right with clothing, bedding, carriers, and other toys from Posh Pets Boutique. Then please their palates with some gourmet treats from Three Dog Bakery.
Columbus loves outdoorsy sportsmen (and women)! Stop by the Short North bicycle shop, Paradise Garage, then pick up the coolest trainers at Sole Classics, and get some rugged sports gear at Clintonville Outfitters.
A long-time favorite of mine, nothing beats the beautiful vintage-inspired furniture and trinkets at SoBo Style. And nothing says old-at-heart like actual paper stationery and journals, especially the charming ones at On Paper. And if you're up for a treasure hunt you can find some great vintage gifts at Grandview Mercantile.
Every starving artist can always use some more supplies, and Utrecht in the Short North has everything they could need. And for those that like to appreciate art more than creating it, the shops at the Wexner Center for the Arts and the Columbus Museum of Art have the ultimate collections.
The ol' chap in your life simply must get a gift from Homage's Ivy League Collection or these classic gift guides from Tigertree. And while it's a slight departure from the list requirements, why not support the ultimate preppy outfitters, Abercrombie & Fitch? I mean, just because it became a big celebrity doesn't mean it forgot where it came from (which is Central Ohio, btw).
Toast the socialite on your list with bar accessories from Bink Davies or a trip to Le Chocoholique, which is the perfect combination of equal parts gourmet chocolate shop (where everything looks like a work of art) and bar! And if you really want to treat them, why not make their next night out a special treat with sexy 'do from The Blowout Bar or a sparkling piece of staement jewelry from Francesca's?!
