Do you ever feel like you get second-hand sadness from events that don't have anything to do with you? Today I have been in a bit of a funk from some of the things going on this weekend, from sad national news to sad news for a friend. None of these things directly affect me and my life, but I'm having a hard time shaking that feeling...Just like a little gray cloud hanging over my head, you know?
And so, as an attempt to point my outlook in a more positive direction, I wanted to focus on things I'm happy about. That's why I think it's a particularly good time to introduce a new staple to my blog- The Random Weekly Roundup! Basically, it's a list of anything that I have particularly liked this week and it will be a regular Sunday routine around here. So, here goes!
Free People Pre-Fall
Free People, one of my all-time favorite brands, has released their pre-fall collection and my eyeballs are in heaven! The smarter (and much-more expensive) older sister to brands such as Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters, never disappoints- producing the effortless/cool/bohemian/tough-girl vibe season after season.
Feast your eyes on the whole pre-fall preview here. And some of my personal favorites below.
Oil Slick + Jeffrey Campbell = LOVE
I'm loving the new oil slick trend, or should I say fall's version of the hologram trend. Oil slick is similar to the hologram in that they are both reflective and wonderfully tacky, but the oil slick favors rich, dark colors that will work seamlessly with the drama of fall fashion.
Now add my new love of oil slick to my recurring love of Jeffrey Campbell, and the magic starts to happen! Check out some of my favorites below, available at NastyGal:
Fresh Prints of MSGM
A master of mixing dynamic prints in unexpected ways, Massimo Giorgetti of Italian house MSGM delivered a near-perfect blend for the Resort 2014 collection. The lineup struck an almost flawless balance of masculine/sporty and feminine/frilly. And the prints and colors are to die for- perfect inspiration for late-summer dressing!

A Beautiful Idea
If you haven't already seen this circling the blogosphere, Elsie and Emma, the girls behind the awesome blog, A Beautiful Mess, have created a brilliant app (aptly named, A Beautiful Mess App) that allows you to edit photos right on your phone, so you can upload pictures onto Instagram that look like you've done designer-grade editing in Photoshop. I just downloaded the app from iTunes, here, and I can't wait to start playing with all the amazing features, like customizable filters, fonts to enable writing directly on the image, and loads of artistic borders and graphics.
Here are some of the effects the app can do, as shown on A Beautiful Mess. Thanks, girls! I'm so glad an app like this exists!
And so, that is the world as I see it this week. I hope you guys like this new feature post! Tell me what you think in the comments section! Until next week! xx
