Random Weekly Roundup #15

Aaahhhhh.... I'm letting out a long, slow sigh while writing this in the comfort of my pajamas. This evening marks the first time I've really been able to take a breather in about 6 weeks. If you ever watch Project Runway, you know how that last hour or so before the runway everyone is running like crazy, scrambling to put something together that won't get massacred by the judges? That's basically what I've felt like since the beginning of October. As a costume designer, I've had three shows to design for in six weeks, and I realized something about myself in this time- I never again want to design for three shows in six weeks. I've barely even slept or talked to my own family. I mean, being busy is great, but without down time, how I would I ever get to enjoy all the cool stuff floating around the interweb? Such as...

1. Are Those Space Pants You're Wearing?...

I don't know how I have gone two weeks of my life before hearing about this, but in case you also haven't heard, Lady Gaga is going to return to her motherland with plans to be the first recording artist to sing from space! USWeekly broke the story, saying that in early 2015, Gaga is "set to blast off in a Virgin Galactic ship and belt out a single track during the Zero G Colony high-tech musical festival in New Mexico." And apparently her full glam squad is going along for the ride! Knowing her and her team, this is definitely going to be something to see! Since we're over a year from the official event, here's her very strange performance of "Do What You Want" with R. Kelly from this weekend's episode of SNL in the meantime...

Although I am a fan of her slammin' disco jumpsuit, I do have to say that I like Lady Gaga much better with significantly less pants. And 100% less R. Kelly...

2. Maggy Frances Fall 2013

I'm pretty obsessed with designer Maggy Schultz' new line, the sleek, 60s-inspired, Maggy Frances. A line of supercool printed seperates, the lookbook, seen here, is a veritable handbook for how to mix and match prints. Part Wes Anderson leading lady quirk, part Blair Waldorf polish, these pieces are sure to add a punch of cool nostalgia to any wardrobe and make you both the hippest and chicest girl on the block.

3. Hunks of the 90s

My 90s-era heart has been aflutter lately with new album releases by both Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails. My favorite aspect about this blessed time in music news is that I get to see my childhood crushes all over late night tv. Late Night with Jimmy Fallon even had an entire Pearl Jam week!

Here is my other fiancé singing the title track from their new album, Lightning Bolt on Fallon...

And in my-favorite-things-I've-ever-seen news, here's Nine Inch Nails making their network tv debut in over 25 years (seriously? how is that possible?) with "All Time Low" on Jimmy Kimmel Live...

Bieber, schmieber. That's what true musical heartthrobs look like.

And with my age-inappropriate hot flashes subsiding, that's going to round up this week's roundup. It's a little short but, like I said, I'm tired. I hope you have an amazing start to your week! And while we're on the topic of heartthrobs, I'm wondering, who was your celeb crush when you were little? Make me melt with nostalgia in the comments!
