Random Weekly Roundup #16

I am up way too late writing this week's roundup after getting much too distracted by the craziness of the AMA's. I mean, Miley, just...what in the world? I was glad to see she had some eyebrows back after the alien-esque pics I kept seeing this week, but holy cow!- that was the weirdest combination of serious song and lunatic everything else that I've ever seen. I laughed and laughed and then kept laughing even after the show was over about the whole thing and now I'm starting to laugh again as I'm writing about it. I mean, I guess if you think laughter is the best medicine/what makes the world go 'round, then you could almost say I liked it? Hahahaha, but wait, that's obviously not right... Well, anyway, here are the things this week that I just know that I like- I hope you do, too!...

1. HoliDIYs

With the holidays coming up, it seems like I have seen even more impressive DIY projects around the web lately. For instance, this collection of DIY Gift Ideas from LaurenConrad.com. My fave is the Sugar and Olive Oil Lip Scrub...

LaurenConrad_DIYLipScrubAnd in the-most-adorable-DIY news is this Acorn Necklace from Caught On A Whim...

CaughtOnAWhim_DIYAcornNecklaceThat's a real acorn! So cute, right?!

And if you just want your mind to completely explode, here is one of the most impressive DIYs I've ever seen, a Chanel-inspired Perfume Clutch from Dream, Create...

DreameCreate_DIYPerfumeClutchOh my glob, if you haven't seen the original clutch, let me just tell you, this is a pretty solid realization of a design that is originally $9,500! So good!

2. The American Dream

If you, like me, live for all things vintage, you need to check out this photo series on imgur of classic midcentury images of Los Angeles. Here are a few of my favorites...

VintageLA_1 VintageLA_2 VintageLA_3 VintageLA_4I love the magical feel of these photos. It's such an enchanting combination- the most optimistic time in America set in the most optimistic city in America, if not the world. It's like the feeling of the photos is multiplied. I also think it's just amazing to imagine that my parents existed in this time period that seems so foreign. It seems so far away, but really is just one or two generations older than my own. Amazing.

3. Stripes & Sequins & Holiday Sparkle

You should know something about me- My favorite thing in the whole wide world, aesthetically speaking, is a mix of sparkling neutral metallics. I am a color and print junkie, but that goes out the window when we're talking about my love of sparkle, which is a relationship I started cultivating right around birth, I'm told. Anyway, that being said, I nearly dropped dead when I saw this Sparkle Gift Guide from Grace Atwood at Stripes & Sequins...

Stripes&Sequins_2013GiftGuide_SparkleI hope you made it through this drop-dead gorgeous collage alive. And if you're wondering about purchasing links, or just want to see more of her brilliance, just click on the photo link or the post link above.

4. Best Dressed Awards

Harper's Bazaar's Editor-at-Large, Mr. Blasberg, has released his Best Dressed of 2013 list. Now, it is headlined by none other than Miss Miley, the same girl who just a couple of hours ago was on stage in a crotch-riding cat print leotard, so it's pretty obvious she was chosen pre-AMA's, but I digress... The Miley thing might have been a slight miss, seeing as I really think she hit her fashion high 1-2 years ago, and is hitting more of a literal high (because she does drugs, see what I did there?) this year. Anyway, we all may not be Team Miley fashion-wise as of late, but, regardless, the list is pretty dead-on and an overall beautiful compilation. Check out the full slideshow, here, or some of my favorites below...

5. Mint to Be

Were I ever to find myself in some epically unjust, wrongfully-incriminated execution sentence a la Claire Danes in Brokedown Palace, but even worse, I don't know what I would want my last meal to be... And now I'm in a daydream about all of my favorite foods...Snap out of it...SNAP OUT OF IT!...Okay, anyway, I'm not sure what I would choose to eat, but I do know that I would request whatever said meal would be to be immediately followed up with an Andes After-Dinner Mint. The world's most delightful and perfect flavor combination. So I couldn't help torturing my gluten-free self with a bombardment of unattainable images when I saw all of these delicious looking recipes from the girls at Six Sisters' Stuff. For all of you lucky gluten-filled heathens, after the jump are 25 (yes, 25!) Mint Recipes for the Holidays! Check it out immediately!

So I think I will go to bed incredibly happy tonight. With visions of mint-chocolate heaven and hilarious cat-video-laden performances dancing in my head.

I have a feeling it's going to be a great week!
