Random Weekly Roundup #29

So I have had a pretty fun, eventful week that concluded in the Debbiest of Downers. Let me explain. As many of you know, I've been working with the Alternative Fashion Mob a lot in the past few months in preparation for Alternative Fashion Week. This week was filled with events, two of which I participated in. First was Reconstruct Your Luck, a Project Runway-style team competition that involved a box of random items and a few articles of used clothing and one hour to create a garment. My super-talented friend from OSU, Shiree, and the lovely Miche from Buttons & Birdcages were my teammates. We didn't win (alas!) but it was so much fun and I did go home with a Phyllis & Hazel necklace that I won in the raffle! So overall, a success! And then the next night was Face Melting for Fashion, where stylists, bands, and photographers were teamed up for a photo shoot, with the end product being revealed at the band's live concert. I worked with the really awesome girls from Trachete on two 70s-inspired looks...

They really wanted to do a jumpsuit shot like this picture of the Runaways...

And because I've never met a sequin I didn't like, I really wanted to do a glam rock/retro skater girl look...

Aren't they cute?! And a special thanks to Rag-O-Rama for loaning pieces for the shoot!

And so anyway, those events were awesome, but then, after AFW'ing it up all week and writing for the Alternative Fashion Mob blog for months, I got so sick that I couldn't even attend the finale runway event! Boos all around! I don't have actual experience with getting roofied, but I imagine the way I felt yesterday is as close as it gets. But on the bright side, I got a lot of sleep and had all day today to catch up on emails, thus finding the gemmiest of internet gems for you. Enjoy...

1 Two of my all-time favorite things have combined forces in a collaboration that almost makes my head explode. Urban Outfitters has teamed up with Betsey Johnson to create the Betsey Johnson Vintage capsule collection, which replicates her most iconic dress designs. If you need be I'll be in heaven...  |  2  And in other awesome collab news, the Proenza Schouler for MAC collection boasts "confident colour" for the clever and cool woman, though honestly, they had me at the packaging.

3  Are you following @DonaldDrawbertson, aka Donald Robertson, aka fashion illustrator extraordinaire, aka man of the moment, on Instagram yet? I am and I love it.  |  4  I also love this deceptively easy and inexpensive Gold Fruit Bowl DIY from House of Earnest.

5  And the pièce de résistance. It needs no words. Zoey and Jasper: A Rescue Dog and Her Little Boy. :)!!!

And a few more...

Sweatshirts and Ruffles, the dynamic duo.
21 Social Media Tips you need to know.
I really want these sandals.
I also want to win this giveaway (so I probably shouldn't have told you about it...)
And to my local friends, who's coming with me to this?!

Well it's been real real. Here's to another (hopefully less comatose) week!
