Random Weekly Roundup #3

I have had a both a very sick and a very happy week! A weird combination, I know, but the positivity going on around me lately has made it hard to be brought down too much by not feeling well. It seems like there are a lot of exciting things on the horizon for those around me and, in all reality, sometimes good news for other people can feel even better than if it were for yourself. Especially when you know the people around you are so great and deserve so much, but it just doesn't seem to work out for them. And then all of the sudden it's like the good karma might be coming back around- that's really the best! Because nothing is worse than watching a loved one suffer when it doesn't seem fair. So I will be keeping my fingers in a state of permanent crossing for some special people in my life this week, hoping these good vibes I'm getting will become reality. And on a completely different note, it is the middle of summer and my air conditioner is off! That's enough reason to be happy no matter what is going on! And here are some other random things I'm excited about this week:

1. Anthropologie is Coming to the Short North!

Plans have been announced for the opening of a new Anthropologie store in the Short North in 2014! The plans for the store include a 9,800 sq. ft. two-story space in the soon-to-be Joseph Building. I'm really excited for my love of Anthropologie and my love of The Short North to merge, and also for the exciting growth happening in the neighborhood. For more information about the project, check out this article at Columbus Underground, here. And until the new store opens, fellow central-Ohioans can always shop the current Easton Town Center location. And don't fret if you don't have an Anthropologie store near you! I've compiled some of my favorite pieces from their latest collection, available at anthropologie.com...

2. I Can See Clearly Now...

I have big hair. In the summer I have bigger hair. This is reason #1 why I love plastic frame glasses- because if you put them on your head the little metal prongs won't get tangled in the mane, tearing out hairs and ruining any chance for an actual hairstyle. Also, and this is a very non-studied opinion, but plastic just feels better on your face when it's hot out, right? So how to get the perks of plastic in a stylish frame? Well, right now, the style I'm craving is round and transparent. Check out some of the options below from Urban Outfitters, all under $40:

And a personal philosophy of mine: when you're going plastic, buy the cheapest sunglasses. As long as they look great, no one can tell the difference...plastic is plastic. Now I'm not saying I'd throw away a pair of Chanel's or anything, but this is a perfect area in your wardrobe to save big.

3. Project Runway is Back!

Season 12 of Project Runway is underway and the usual cast is all present. The possibly-from-outerspace environmentalist who sent a barefoot model down the runway, the woman in her 40s who somehow made it on the show without knowing how to use a sewing machine, the arrogant guy with an accent who produced an outfit so scandalous it had to be pixelated. In their surprise twist, they've brought back Kate from Season 11, who is sure to get into a catfight soon with the girl who literally has cat claws for fingernails. But don't let this horribly unprofessional and uninformative recap fool you- it's going to be amazing! Project Runway is my all-time favorite reality show, and having that and So You Think You Can Dance on my tv queue this summer makes for one happy camper!

4. Egg Cups to Die For...

So if you don't also spend a solid 30% of your life on Pinterest, this may not relate to you, but I have been seeing egg cups everywhere. And I am obsessed! They meet so many qualifications for a good obsession: they are very fancy, very tiny, and very adorable! They bring a such a sense of whimsy and interest to everyday objects, don't you think? The best egg cups I've seen so far are these planters from Justina Blakeney's blog, here...

Her egg cups, unfortunately, are from Denmark and cannot be purchased. I think I smell a DIY coming on soon...
