I feel really strongly about fashion. In fact, the majority of my thoughts are geared towards the beauty of aesthetics and design. And for the most part, I love it, but every once in a while I get a creeping feeling that maybe my life's passion is just completely superficial? I mean, as much as I think fashion is important, it doesn't exactly save lives, does it? But it can make a difference. And that's exactly why I got so excited when the Komen Young Professionals organization reached out to me about their upcoming Style for the Cure fashion show, which blends fashion with stories of empowerment and survival. The theme of this year's event, which will take place Sunday, Aug. 17th, is "Fall into Pink" and will feature looks from Columbus-area boutiques. The models for the show will all be people who have been personally affected by cancer (you can read some of their amazing stories here). If you'd like to lend your support to the event you can do so through volunteering, buying tickets or making a donation, all of which can be found here.
I hope to see you there! And now onto my favorite links this week...
1 Need some interior design inspiration? Take a cue from this collection of 10 Beautiful Brooklyn Apartments. (Who What Wear) | 2 A sneak peek of next month's Target + Altuzarra fall-friendly collaboration. These shoes are at the top of my wishlist. (The New York Times)
3 This naturally gluten-free Blueberry Peach Quinoa Crumble looks the perfect desert for the summer-fall transition. (Hummusapien) | 4 With minimalism being so of the moment, it's nice to see the new Fall of the Wild lookbook from NastyGal buck the trend with multi-printed, multi-textured mismatched layers. (NastyGal)
5 There's no shortage of female empowerment ads these days, but two in particular really got my attention this week. After watching this first one from Pantene, I cringed every time I heard myself do this in the past few days, especially since it was about 98 times and I now realize that "Can I ask a stupid question?" could practically be my personal slogan. Take a look as I make mental notes to change that...
And this one for Under Armour is just plain beautiful. And inspiring.
