I'm coming up on my 1-year Blogiversary and it's really made me reflect on how much has changed this year. One of my favorite aspects about blogging is meeting new people, especially fellow bloggers. From new friends to people I just feel like I know because I'm reading about their lives every week, the blogging community is really an amazing thing to be a part of. Of course there are the big blogs that I, and millions of others, read (some of my favorites are Man Repeller, A Beautiful Mess, Cupcakes & Cashmere, Honestly...WTF, Hi Sugarplum!, MaskCara, and Miss Kris Turner), but this post is about the blogs I've discovered. Local smaller blogs you may not have heard about. Blogs that are wonderfully written by genuinely nice people. And if they aren't already on there, maybe you'll add some to your list of daily reads?...
Be Up & Doing and is a relatively new blog on my reading list. I've never met the author, Allison Lehman, but I really love her aesthetic. And since she is a full-time graphic designer, she has some great practical tips for being a freelance artist (my dream!).
I first met Miche of Buttons and Birdcages when she modeled for one of my Stylinity posts and we've since taken part in a few more events, becoming fast friends. Not only is she a wonderful person, but she has a really great vintage sense of style. My favorite parts of her blog are her thrift store refashions and her "good news of the day."
Amanda's girl about columbus blog covers everything from food to fashion to events with some amazingly beautiful photos. She's also one of the friendliest people I've met and is always getting all the other local bloggers together. When it comes to the Columbus scene, this girl is in the know! Check out her guest post, here.
Columbus' own mini Martha, Erin of House of Earnest, posts about home décor, recipes, and super chic DIY projects. I haven't gotten to meet Erin in person yet, but I'm excited to attend her event at Easton this Thursday! Will I see any of you there?!
So I Heart Vegetables is actually based out of Richmond, Virginia, but the author, Liz, is originally from Columbus and was the first blogger friend I made (she's about the nicest person ever!). I love Liz's take on fitness and healthy eating, offering tips and recipes for all kinds of nutritional needs- vegetarian, gluten-free, etc. Not to mention she's totally inspiring and uplifting! Check out her guest post, here.
Kholá's Kloset is written by Kholá Waddy-Jones, Creative Director of CMH Fashion Week, a girl who is in the know when it comes to Columbus fashion! Aside from her blog and role with CMH, she also lends her killer sense of style to 24Seven Couture, Columbus' own online luxury consignment shop, as its founder/owner.
Lacy Rose is a beautiful blog with a romantic vintage vibe. I've only talked to Lacy, who's based out of the Cincinnati area, over email, but she couldn't be lovelier, both in writing and on camera. Her blog showcases very feminine outfit posts, recipes, and more goodies. I particularly love her Instagram.
Lily Schlosser's personal style blog was one of the first local blogs I started reading when I was thinking of writing my own. I was really excited when I got to meet her at the Free People grand opening. Lily has a very unique minimalistic style and just launched her own jewelry line, Eli & Barry!
I was so happy to finally meet The Chemodan Blog's Katya Grishanova at Circa (she's the adorable one in the floral crown)- she has THE BEST energy and is so much fun! With a daring sense of style, model looks, and photographer friends, her outfit post look like magazine editorials. See what I mean here, here, and here.
Lindsey Turner of Thrift & Shout is literally the thriftiest blogger I've ever seen. Her outfit posts are incredibly fashion-forward and often come in at around $25-$50 for the entire look, head-to-toe! See here, here, and here for proof. I met her in person at Circa and she's 100% adorable.
I also love to read everything by Capital Style: the magazine, newsletter, and The Daily Dish. But I want to know what you're reading? Tell me all of your favorites in the comments! And I know there is a lot of talent that I didn't mention here, so if you write/read a great smaller blog, local or not, send me a message or name drop in the comments section! I'd love to hear about it!
